I am pleased and honored to be the President of IRWA Chapter 1, Los Angeles for the 2016-2017 term. Our Chapter has a long, rich history of dedication and service and I want to continue that tradition.
Our Board of Directors is very excited about the prospect of constantly striving to improve the services our Chapter provides to you, our members. In that regard, we have set out a number of ambitious goals for this year. These goals are directed toward increasing member value in everything our Chapter undertakes.
Specifically, we want to:
- Increase attendance at our monthly lunch meetings. We will try to do this by gaining approval to provide various types of educational credit for more of our speakers and by rotating the luncheon venue.
- We would also like to encourage more participation of our members at the international level in international committees and communities of practice. There are a variety of industry committees and subject matter discipline communities of practice available to IRWA members. These committees and communities of practice provide valuable perspectives and advice in right of way disciplines from around the country. The ability to network and meet colleagues from around the country and the world is priceless.
- Strive to increase membership by active outreach to Cities/Agencies not yet included in our membership. We would really like to see our governmental sector of membership grow. If you are in that governmental sector, please let any Director know how we as a Chapter can attract and retain more agency members.
- Putting on a Fall Seminar in January, 2017. This is something we are striving to do this year in order to help keep our members as informed as possible about important topics in right of way. Let us know your interest!
I want to know what else our membership would like to accomplish this fiscal year. This is your chapter. Let me know what you think!
